Investing in Underserved Communities & Under-Supported Residents

Knowledge is power! Our mission is to utilize education to empower inner city residents to make informed decisions, to advocate for themselves and their community, to improve their standard of living, and to take control of their lives. By providing employment and trade training, residents in underserved communities can acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to make positive changes in their lives and their community by building a new career path.

KCC is the proud recipient of three (3) Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) Youth Development Grants in Chicago, in line to receive over $650K in awards and continuation funds to serve youth on Chicago’s South Side.

How We Serve

Trade & Employment Training

Education is a key factor in economic mobility, enabling individuals to secure higher-paying jobs and achieve financial stability. This can help break the cycle of poverty that is often prevalent in underserved communities. Through trade and employment training, we create economic mobility for residents in need.

Violence Intervention, Prevention & Peacekeeping

Our violence intervention program helps to prevent violent incidents by providing support and resources to individuals who may be struggling with issues such as trauma, substance abuse, or mental health issues. We address the root causes of violence and offer alternatives to uplift and empower.

Support for Single Mothers & Ex-Felons

Single mothers and ex-felons often face economic challenges that can make it difficult to achieve economic independence. By providing support such as job training, child care, and financial literacy, we help ensure our residents have the resources they need to achieve economic stability and a better life.

Davona Hawkins, Founder & President

I'm a mother of three black boys. Growing up, I didn’t have much influence or anyone to mentor or guide me. I promised when I achieved success, I would create programs to help mentor and support youth, women and residents in need of support and education. Through our violence prevention and trade training programs, not only will we give you the support you need, but the resources to achieve goals you didn’t even know were within reach.”

Trade training can stimulate economic development by providing a skilled workforce that can support growth in the construction industry. By delivering training tailored to the needs of the local economy, we help create a more vibrant & sustainable community…

Transforming Communities

Championing Social Equity & Filling Skills Gaps

We help to promote and champion social equity for residents in underserved communities by leveling the playing field and giving all residents an opportunity to reach their fullest potential through education and training. Job-specific education can help overcome persistent disparities, break down obstacles, and create opportunities for residents who may have been historically excluded from education and economic opportunities and resources. We help the hopeless achieve their dreams by creating a better standard of living for them to thrive and achieve financial stability.

Leadership Development & Entrepreneurial Training

We train and development all participants on how to achieve economic mobility. Leadership development empowers individuals to become active participants in their community and take a proactive role in shaping its future. Our goal is to enable and empower at-risk groups on how to secure better and higher-paying jobs to achieve financial stability. Through education, we help break the cycle of poverty that is often prevalent in underserved communities.

In recent times, many employers report that they have difficulty finding workers with the skills they need. Trade training can help close the skills gap by providing inner city residents with the industry construction-specific and foundational skills and knowledge required by local business owners.

Making a Real Difference…

We do the work. We make a real difference. We understand your pain, your needs, your desire to grow and achieve more. We are focused on creating better and stronger inner city communities by addressing the issues and challenges underserved groups face each and every day! By working together to address these issues, we create more vibrant and sustainable communities built on empowerment and opportunity. We also help inner city residents self-sustain, become independent, and engaged!

How do we empower communities through workforce development? Through workforce development we provide inner city residents with access to career opportunities that they may not have had otherwise. We bring opportunity to forgotten communities. By providing development, training, resources, and support to individuals, our Academy helps at-risk populations and our inner city residents access stable jobs with opportunities for advancement, along with the creation of new companies.
